Custom House Wharf in Portland, Maine has been the site of a fish market since sometime in the late 1800's. It became the Harbor Fish Market when the Alfiero family purchased it in 1966. Their upbringing inspired them to impart to the public that good food is important to good health and well being and that's been the philosophical backbone of the market throughout the decades.
The picturesque and historic storefront at 9 Custom House Wharf has served as a backdrop for national and international advertisements and is the subject of countless paintings, photographs, and postcards.
